Comsewogue Public Library, located in Port Jefferson Station, New York, is the latest public library to be Certified Sustainable by the Sustainable Libraries Initiative. Comsewogue Public Library's efforts encompassed actions to reduce energy use and redirect waste from the landfill through recycling and redistribution through donations to community organizations. Their work through the Sustainable Libraries Certification Program led to new partnerships with other local agencies. These collaborations led to increased services for their community and a renewed focus on social equity, inclusivity, and the wellbeing of the library staff and community.
